Life skills to practise at home
Home practice is one morning job for ten days, ticked on a card. If it needs a laminated 20-step chart you will not use, it is the wrong job.

Pick the job that would change next week
Shoes. Lunch box. Flush. Bag by the door. Use the chores chart and practice log. Coaching: parent coaching.
School mornings
If the crash is the door, that is also school readiness.
The job that would change next week
Shoes. Lunch box. Flush. Bag by the door. Not all four. Tick ten days on the chores chart or log.
If they do it for the therapist and not for you, book coaching in the room where it fails.
School mornings
If the crash is the door, that is also school readiness. A goodbye that ends is a life skill and a school skill.

Ten days, one tick
Pick the morning job that would change next week: shoes, lunch box, flush, bag by the door. If it needs a laminated twenty-step chart you will not use, it is the wrong job. Practice log. A helper who still does it has to hear the same two steps.
Eating here is sitting and trying, not a diet — medical feeding signs go to a doctor. Feeding skills, feeding difficulties. Coaching watches the room where it fails: parent coaching.
The idea behind the work (in the books)
Ten days, one job, a tick. If it needs a laminated twenty-step chart you will not use, it is the wrong job.
Cooper, Heron and Heward — chaining at home
The last step first still applies at the door: they put the bag down. You fade the rest over the fortnight.
Cheng 2023 — small life-skill effects
Adaptive behaviour moves slower than a request. Daily practice in the real room is the whole argument for this page.
What the research tells us
This isn’t just our opinion — it’s grounded in published research. Here are a few findings from trusted, independent sources:
Cheng and colleagues (2023) meta-analysed parent-implemented interventions. Overall benefits were moderate; adaptive behaviour and life-skills effects were the smallest. Coaching helps. It is not a guarantee of independence.

Contact owner Muhammad Salman Afzal first. No referral needed. A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes.
At home — questions parents ask
They do it for you and not for me.
Then we coach you live, in the room where it fails. That is the point of coaching.
How long until they are independent?
A step can move in days. A whole morning takes longer. We will not give you a fake date.
They refuse every chore. Is it attitude?
Often the task is too big. Shrink it. If refusal is the whole day, tell us that — it may be load, not character.
We have a helper who still does it.
Then the helper has to hear the same two steps, or the week unravels. Coaching can include them.
