🇳🇿 Online support in New Zealand

Online speech and development support for families in New Zealand

From Multan we coach Pakistani and South-Asian parents in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and across New Zealand in Urdu or English. We will be honest about the time difference before you book.

Support for children and families in New Zealand

Our centre is in Multan, Pakistan — we don’t have a branch in New Zealand. For families in New Zealand we work entirely online, in English or Urdu, and we point you to your own country’s services too.

New Zealand’s Pakistani community is small and spread out. Auckland holds most of it; Wellington and Christchurch have pockets. Finding an Urdu-speaking child therapist locally is unusual. Public support runs through your GP, Plunket, early-childhood centre or school, and the Ministry of Education’s learning support and early intervention. Waits vary by region.

We are one centre in Multan, owned by Muhammad Salman Afzal, with faculty including Mahnoor Baloch, Speech & Language Therapist. No NZ branch, no local practising certificate. Video only. Australia next door is a different system (NDIS and Medicare) — online support for Australian families.

The clock is the hard part, and we will not hide it. Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5 and does not move. New Zealand Standard Time is UTC+12; daylight time is UTC+13. Our Monday to Friday, 2pm to 6pm window is 9pm to 1am in Auckland in winter, and 10pm to 2am in summer. Parent coaching after the child’s bedtime can still work. A play session with a three-year-old at 10pm often does not. We will tell you which you are booking. Full table: online therapy time zones. Urdu sessions: online Urdu speech therapy from abroad.

How we help

Working with families in New Zealand

We start with where you are in the NZ system: GP, Plunket, Ministry of Education early intervention, school learning support, or a private speech-language therapist. Then a small home plan that will not fight that work.

Because the live hour is late for you, much of the value is what you do in NZ daytime between calls. We write that down. How online sessions run.

Speech, behaviour, special education, child psychology, a first look at development. No licensed OT on staff — daily-living coaching is named as that.

Ministry of Education, not NDIS

Australian relatives will talk about NDIS plans. New Zealand does not use the NDIS. Learning support and early intervention sit with the Ministry of Education. Some children access Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS) funding through school. We cannot apply for ORS and we cannot be your Ministry provider. We can help you describe your child in plain words for the people who can.

Start locally: GP or Plunket for health, the ECE or school for learning support. You do not always need a GP to contact Ministry early intervention — ask them what they allow in your region. Processes change. Confirm locally.

When a late-evening session still makes sense

Parent-only coaching, reviewing a report, and planning the week can happen after the child is asleep. Live play with a toddler cannot, not well. If your child is older and a night owl, we can try. If they are two, we will usually suggest parent coaching in our window and play practice in your morning, rather than a groggy 10pm “session” that teaches nobody.

Long visits to Pakistan flip the problem: you are in our time zone and can come in person. Families use that stretch to do the looking we cannot do on a camera.

Urdu at home, English at school

Count words in both languages. A genuine delay shows in both. Keeping Urdu at home is not why English is slow at school. Bilingualism does not cause speech delay. A child in an English ECE still needs the rich language you actually speak.

Local services

Getting help where you are, too

Alongside working with us online, here’s how families in New Zealand can reach support in their own area. Processes change, so always double-check locally.

Ministry of Education learning support

Ask your child’s ECE or school how to request learning support, and whether a referral to early intervention is appropriate. The Ministry provides these services; routes differ by region.

Health: GP and Plunket

Your GP can check hearing and development and refer on. Plunket nurses see young children for well-child checks. Hearing and swallow worries need someone in the room in New Zealand, not a video call from Multan.

By city

Cities we support families in across New Zealand

We work online with New Zealand-based families wherever you are. If you’re in one of these cities, here’s a page written for your community.

How to start

Getting started from New Zealand is simple

  1. 1

    Message us on WhatsApp

Tell us your child’s age and what’s worrying you — a short message is enough. We reply in English or Urdu.

  2. 2

    A consultation

Rs 1,500, up to 50 minutes. We listen properly, ask a few questions, and give you an honest read on what your child needs — all over video. No pressure to book ongoing therapy, no jargon.

  3. 3

A clear plan you can act on

You leave with a plan: online sessions where they help, plus a home program you can start the same week.

FAQ

Questions from families in New Zealand

Are you registered to practise in New Zealand?

No. We have no NZ practising certificate and no branch. We coach parents online from Multan. Formal assessment and funded support belong with New Zealand services.

Is the time difference workable?

Sometimes. Our 2pm to 6pm Multan window is late evening or night in New Zealand. Parent coaching after bedtime can work. A play session with a toddler at 10pm often cannot. We will be honest before you pay.

Can you help with ORS or Ministry funding?

No. Those decisions sit with the Ministry of Education and New Zealand professionals. We can help you describe your child clearly. We will not guess eligibility.

Do we need a referral to start with you?

No. A consultation is Rs 1,500 and lasts up to 50 minutes. Bring any reports you already have.

We also have family in Australia. Same service?

Same team, different public system. Use our Australia page if you live there. NDIS does not apply in New Zealand.

Should we drop Urdu so school English catches up?

Usually no. Keep the language you speak best. English comes from ECE, school and friends. Dropping Urdu shrinks the child’s total language.
